MONTHLY FAVOURITES: APRIL 2015.

Saturday 2 May 2015
I've not posted for a while as I always spend ages writing out posts, when I probably should be using that time to revise instead, but hey, here I am. Last month was interesting to say the least, and I spent the first three weeks of it in Switzerland at home with my family and the final week here in London. 5 Seconds of Summer (one of my all-time favourite bands) were in London last week and unfortunately I didn't get to meet them for one reason or another, but I did get to hang out with some of my favourite friends I've made through the band, which was lovely as always. (Special shoutout to Libby, Shannon, Aimée and Natalie, you guys are rockin'.) Here are some of my favourites from this month:

Film:
21 Jump Street.
I caught this midway through on TV the other day while I was preparing dinner and I've seen it so many times I can start watching it at any point and still enjoy it. This film is so dumb but so funny, and it brings back memories of times I've watched it with certain people, which just adds to why I love it.

TV Show:
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
I binge-watched this series over two days and it's simultaneously ridiculous in its script and actually quite hard-hitting in its content. The theme song is the catchiest tune ever, and I find myself laughing out loud at many points throughout each episode. I mean, it was created by Tina Fey, so it was hardly going to not be funny, was it?

Music:
The Maine & Little Sea.
I'm still on that American Candy hype and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon. Australian band Little Sea have recently released a song called Paper Raincoat Girl which I'm loving - all of their music is just generally really happy and easy to listen to, which is fab.

Makeup/Beauty:
KIKO cosmetics.
KIKO have recently opened a small branch in the shopping centre near my house in Switzerland, so my mum and I went in and had a browse. We spent so long in there just looking at all of the pretty products - nail varnishes in a myriad of colours, glosses and lipsticks and pencils and every variety of foundation you could imagine. This particular branch was actually really cool; near the nail varnishes there was a roll of sellotape that you were supposed to peel off and stick on your hand, and then swatch the varnishes on (I thought this was a really smart idea as it means you don't have to wait until the varnish had dried on your nails or whatever). Plus, they had tissues and cotton wool and makeup remover if you wanted to try any on. I realise this has turned into a comment on the KIKO shop itself but I felt it deserved a mention. After much deliberation, in the end, my kindly mother bought me a dark pinky brown lipliner and an orange-toned red matching lipliner and lipstick.

Fashion:
Denim jacket.
I've wanted a denim jacket for a long time but they're one of those things that can end up quite expensive (yes, I know thrift stores exist, but they never seem to have what I'm looking for whenever I've been in one). Aforementioned kindly mother lent me her denim jacket (which, actually, my older sister had previously laid claim to) and I've been wearing it most days since then. I'll have to give it back in the summer but for now it is working its way into my wardrobe.

Quote/Lyric:
"You're fucking cops? We partied together man! You bought us Taco Bell!" "Eric, honestly, that was a sincere gesture." - 21 Jump Street.

Miscellaneous:
People and good food.
I've spent a lot of time with family and family friends and regular friends and friends of friends this past month and it's been really nice to socialise before this month-long period of social alienation occurs (also known as: exam time). In terms of food, I've eaten so much tasty stuff this month and I just couldn't not mention it. I've had salmon and avocado and fajitas and meat in general and roast dinners and frozen yoghurt and sushi and ice cream and crêpes and sweet potato and, overall, most of my favourite food/meals.

April was super busy but I have a feeling that with all my exams, May will give me even less time to write up posts. Nonetheless, I'll try to make sure I get another post to you before the month is up.

See you next time!

Georgia
